Our thanks to the Today show for highlighting and encouraging the work of nonprofits everywhere!

Al Roker , a Today show host and weatherman, spent a week traveling around the country announcing gifts and grant awards to small charities that work toward improving conditions in their communities. Our Trustee, John Castles, and two of our summer interns, BB Bryant and Dylan Smith, flew to Bozeman, Montana, where John Castles presented a check to Eagle Mount-Bozeman, representing a grant that was recently awarded to this group. See 2009 Annual Report. All three had a wonderful, if very early (!) time watching the behind-the-scenes action of the Today show and learning more about Eagle Mount-Bozeman, which provides therapeutic recreation for people with disabilities and children who have been diagnosed with cancer.

There are thousands of nonprofits serving the needs of individuals and families in amazing and creative ways.

There are thousands of nonprofits that work with a wide variety of people in our communities, serving the needs of individuals and families in amazing and creative ways. These nonprofits are supported, in large part, by the of individuals and families that are a part of those cgenerosityommunities. But private philanthropy also plays a very important role in helping them fulfill their missions. Combined with the business community, non-profit groups, the education community, and government, private philanthropy is a fundamental part of building strong, vibrant, and healthy communities across the country. The MJ Murdock Charitable Trust is one of those private foundations that partner with non-profit groups, primarily in the Pacific Northwest. Since 1975 the Trust has provided more than $600 million of support to nearly 5,000 non-profit organizations.
