Transportation and admission will be provided for the following tours on Saturday afternoon, January 15,
2011. (Be prepared for both rain and sun so that you can enjoy your tour regardless of the weather.)
If you prefer not to take a tour, please note when registering online so that we can get an accurate count.
We make tour reservations based on your responses and are financially committed to pay for the tour
even if participants cancel at the last minute.
Wild Animal Park
11:45/5:00pm (hotel departure/arrival)
A member of the education staff will conduct a walking tour of various exhibits in this 1800-acre park. Visitors will see how the animals are cared for and fed, and how endangered species preservation is addressed. Animals will be seen in near-natural settings, and the tour will include an animal presentation and behind-the scenes look at an exhibit. Free time will be available to walk the facility and view the attractions.
Maritime Museum of San Diego
12:30/5:00pm (hotel departure/arrival)
Explore a collection of historic ships and learn about their history as well as the mechanics and physics
involved with their operations. A docent will guide your tour of both Russian and U.S. submarines and
the engine room of a Steam Ship. A Pilot Boat ride will provide you with a view of San Diego Bay
and an overview of its water quality and ecology. Your visit will also include time for you to explore
the other ships and exhibits in this museum. (Please note: Unfortunately, these ships were not built to
be ADA accessible.)
SeaWorld
12:15/5:00pm (hotel departure/arrival)
A behind-the-scenes tour will be led by a member of the education staff of SeaWorld. Visitors will
learn about animal care and research and will see how unusual and rare animals are handled. Free time
will be available to walk the facility and view the attractions.
